Cultural

Cultural implications can be tricky. You need to identify the cultural groups that you are building the outcome for and also consider the other cultural groups that will have an interest in your outcome.

For example building a free speech social network could empower people to speak their minds freely. However this could give people the opportunity to harass other groups.

What is culturally appropriate at one point in time might not be later on.

One way to address this is to consult with other cultures to get their feedback during the research, analysis, design and development stages.

Questions that you should consider are:

  • Is the outcome culturally appropriate?
  • Have I considered all different cultural perspectives?
  • Are all cultures treated fairly?
  • Have I considered Te Tiriti o Waitangi?
