Rubric

A rubric is an assessment tool that conveys a list of criteria important to the assessment task and then communicates gradations of quality for each criterion. For a rubric to be most effective it should:

* use specific language – avoiding terms like sometimes or rarely; * contain requirements that are both measureable and observable; * be written in positive language that all students can understand; and * be realistic, providing a valid entry point for all students.
