With the passing of Sam Neill I have been taken back to one of my favourite childhood movies (and books), Jurassic Park.
Dennis Nedry was the sole developer for the entire parks systems, and accepted a $1.5 million payment to steal embryos from Jurassic park and the owner John Hammond had not paid him enough.
Placing the sole responsibility of the parks systems into one overworked and underpaid person is a recipe for disaster. In the age of large coroprations and Generative AI, Jurassic Park is a reminder that we Need to keep our humanity and human involvement in digital systems.
